ATA Carnet

The ATA Carnet certificate allows you to bring a specific list of equipment to and from Austria. It is like a passport for your equipment and eases the process with the Austrian custom. You can use the ATA Carnet when you ship your equipment by a company as well when you bring it as carry-on baggage. The certificate is issiued by your local chamber of commerce. We strictly recommend to use this certificate in order to avoid proplems with the Austrian custom.

A list of countries which can use the ATA Carnet can be found here.

More information about the ATA Carnet certificate can be found at the website of the international chamber of commerce.

Custom Process for Juniors

For junior participants from non-EU countries who arrive directly at the airport in Graz or Vienna and carry their robot in their luggage there is a special process. Junior teams have to indicate at the Austrian custom in Graz or Vienna that they are participating in the RoboCup 2009. Then the robot will be seen as travel good and there is no custom process necessary. Anyway we recommend the teams to provide the following information.

  • a foto of your robot, to provide to the custom officer
  • a proforma invoice with the approximate value of the robot, it will be singed by the customs officer at arrival and is needed again during the departure

Some Advices for Senior Teams

If your team carries the robots and the equipment in the carry-on baggage please follow the following advices:

  • prepare a ATA carnet as explained above
Please note that you have to do the customs process at the first airport within the EU you arrive.
