Guided tours for schools

To show students the fun of science and give them a sense of how much robots are already able to do, the RoboCup 2009 offers guided tours for schools.

At the beginning of this guided tour the students will be explained the goal of the RoboCup. Subsequent there will be a tour through the event halls of the exhibition center Graz, where the RoboCup takes place. The tour is devided into different stations, where each station represents a RoboCup league. At each station, the students will be explained each league, they can see competitions very close and look the teams at work over their shoulder.

There will be offered guided tours during three days of the RoboCup:

Wednesday, 1st of July 2009, from 12 noon to 3 pm
Thursday, 2nd of July 2009, from 9 am to 3 pm
Friday, 3rd of July 2009, from 9 am to 3 pm

The duration of the guided tour is about 1,5 hours. Every full hour new guided tours are starting. The last guided tours are starting at 3 pm.

Even after the guided tours, the students have the opportunity to see the different leagues in detail and be present during further competitions. They are also able to participate at the accompanying program of the RoboCup. This accompanying program includes technical demonstrations or talks, where amongst others the goals and the problems of each league are explained in detail. Depending on the lecturer, the talk will be held in English or in German.

The participation in the whole program and the visit of the competitions are free.
